Book signing and Tour: An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth
Book Title: An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth
Author: Chris Hadfield
Location: Bay and Bloor Indigo Books, Toronto
Date: Tuesday, October 29/2013 @ 7pm
Anticipation was growing along with a long line of eager fans awaiting their chance to purchase an autographed copy of Commander Chris Hadfield’s new non-fiction book, ‘An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth’. His number one fan, Helena Maria Fernandez had mentioned to me, “I’ve been waiting in line all day to see Chris and buy his new book!’ Dedicated to his wife, this somewhat of a personal memoire describes his history as a child growing up, his aspirations of becoming an astronaut, and his story of how that came to be. After such an experience to live in outer space for 166 days one would gain rare knowledge on how the world and universe work. This experience has since then left the Commander in the spotlight and in which the public love and adore.
The Bay & Bloor Indigo approximated 800 guests visited Chris in downtown Toronto as he described the excitement of commanding the International Space Station. After the recorded interview, an included free autograph session took place where all book purchasers could receive his authentic signature. Patiently waiting in line, the time had come to receive my own copy of ‘An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth’, by Chris Hadfield. He shook my hand, saying “Hello”, and “Thank you for purchasing my book” while writing his signature. The nationwide tour is set to last throughout the winter.
An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth has a retail value of $32.00.
The Life and Times of Commander Chris Hadfield
Past, Present, and Future Endeavors
Col. and Commander Chris Hadfield is a man of many achievements. Born in Sarnia, Ontario on August 29th of 1959, former engineer and fighter pilot Hadfield executed the first Canadian space walk, participated in several shuttle missions, and was also commander of the International Space Station. He spent 166 days in space conducting dozens, if not hundreds of experiments daily while still finding time to make video recordings of David Bowie cover songs. Hadfield also carried a Canadian $5.00 space bill which travelled with him over 100 million miles. The bill was a prototype, and the first polymer five dollar Canadian bill ever printed.
Since returning from space Chris has become both a worldwide superstar and celebrity. From international film festivals and book signings to late night talk shows his intergalactic stardom has swept the nation. Just recently on Monday, November 11/2013 Hadfield made an appearance on the popular late night talk show, ‘Late Night with Conan O’Brien’. He starred along the likes of famous film & television actor Jon Cryer whom was promoting the popular series, ‘Two and a Half Men’.
